"WehavealsonotedthecommentsmadebyTikTok,"Maosaidinresponsetoarelevantquery,notingthattheChinesegovernmentattachesgreatimportancetoprotectingdataprivacyandsecurityunderthelaw.

TheChinesegovernmenthasneverandwillneveraskcompaniesorindividualstocollectorprovidedata,information,andintelligencelocatedinforeigncountriesinamannerthatviolateslocallaws,shesaid.

"TheU.S.governmenthasyettoprovideanyevidencethatTikTokposesathreattoitsnationalsecurity,buthasrepeatedlyconductedpresumptionofguiltandunreasonablysuppressedrelevantcompanies,"Maosaid,pointingoutthatsomemembersoftheU.S.CongresshavesuggestedthatseekingtobanTikTokispoliticalpersecution.

TheU.S.sideshouldearnestlyrespectthemarketeconomyandtheprinciplesoffaircompetition,stopunjustifiablysuppressingforeigncompanies,andprovideanopen,just,andnon-discriminatoryenvironmentforforeigncompaniestoinvestandoperateintheUnitedStates,thespokespersonnoted.■
